This page is the collection of all government Astral Projection research documents. We will go over all of the released research and explain exactly what they found out. This includes CIA research, DIA documents and more.
This page will be updated frequently to add new Astral Projection documents from either the American goverment or some foreign goverments or agencies so bookmark this website for updates.

Without further ado, let’s get started by going over the first government document on the list.
DIA AP Research
The first government documents that we will go over aren’t actually from the CIA, they are a part of DIA research. DIA is the Defense Intelligence Agency that focuses on military topics that are on the national level.
Astral Projection is obviously a very interesting to the American government considering that even the DIA did research on it (and probably still do).

The DIA Astral Projection documents are titled:
Soviet and Czechoslovakian Parapsychology Research
These documents were written in 1972 and were approved for release in 2003 through the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA). You can find the documents here: https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00792R000500730003-0.pdf
If the link above doesn’t work for you, here are the images to the documents:
Let’s go through this DIA research page by page and dissect exactly what they found out about Astral Projection.
What Do These Documents Say?
An important thing to know about these DIA Astral Projection documents is that they are only 4 pages long if we don’t count the cover and the sample page.
This is because there are obviously a lot of mysteriously missing pages. One can easily tell that based on the fact that the pages inside mostly start with a sentence that isn’t related to the end of the sentence on the previous page.
Regardless, there is still a lot of very intering information:
Page 1
The first page, which obviously should have some pages before it, talks a lot about Doctor Vasilev. Vasilev was a Russian scientist who claimed to have conducted several successful telepathic experiments.

The Soviets supported Doctor Vasilev and his view that: “The discovery of energy underlying telepathic communication will be equivalent to the discovery of atomic anergy”.
Moreover, the first page of the DIA documents mentions reports that the Soviets are training their cosmonauts in telepathy.
Page 2 & 3
On the second and third page (which has some missing pages before it as well) the DIA talks about the parapsychological research done by the Soviet Union.
“The science of parapsychology should be investigated to its fullest potential, perhaps to the benefit of national defense.”
The document mentions the director of the Southeast Hypnosis Research Center in Dalls, Texas, in the 1970s, Pullman. According to Pullman, Soviet diplomats will eventually be able to use ESP – Astral Projection to spy on their enemies with their Astral bodies.
According to Pullman, such Astral Projection has already been accomplished in laboratory settings and the American and Russian governments are now trying to perfect it.

The last page of this DIA document is very interesting. It has a lot of missing pages leading up to it so it’s likely that a lot of important things are missing but it says that a person that can master Astral Project can do all of these:
- Know the contents of all secret documents, movements of military, locations of secret bases
- Hold the thoughts of people at a distance
- Cause instant death of anyone at a distance
- Disable any military or communication equipment including spacecraft
It’s very interesting that they used the word spacecraft back in the 1972. According to the DIA document, even though that the above four points sound like complete science fiction, they seem to be supported by literature.
The document ends with two very powerful quotes:
"I am amazed at the skepticism and sometimes hostility which I encounter when I try to tell Americans about some of the experimentation that is taking place in the USSR in parapsychology and related fields. I find this strange because there is available documentation and translation which substantiates most of the things I saw in the USSR. I am really disturbed, because if the United States does not make serious effor to move forward on this new frontier, in another ten years it may be too late."
"Extrasensory perception is not a matter of belief. There is a great deal of serious scientific work being done in it, and it has been established over the last thirty years that it is a matter of probability, and the probabilities have been established beyond chance."
CIA Astral Projection Documents
These CIA Astral Projection documents are the famous CIA Gateway Experience documents titled as: Analysis and assessement of Gateway Process.
The whole report was written by the Lieutenant Colonel Wayne M. Mcdonnel. There isn’t a lot of information available on Wayne but that’s to be expected considering he was a part of top secret CIA research.
Wayne was tasked to write a report on The Gateway Experience tecnique, Astral Projection and Out Of Body Experiences by the U.S. Army Operational Group. In order to do that, he partnered with a lot of different scientists including the pioneer of biomedical engineering, Itzhak Bentov.

Written in 1983, released to public in 2003, these documents were a part of the Stargate Project (just like the first DIA research documents).
There’s a high chance that this CIA research was started because of the DIA documents which revelead the parapsychological experiements in the Soviet Union.
In the documents, Wayne follows objective scientific methods in order to research Astral projection and The Gateway Technique. This includes:
- Bringing Astral Projection into the world of science with physics
- Theoretical physics in order to explain the dimension differences which consciousness transcends
- Quantum mechanics to describe the functions of consciousness
- Biomedical inquiries
We won’t go too dep into the documents in this post because they are so long. In the future, we will write a post that will go deep into the Astral Projection research done by the CIA. We will, however, go over a summary of what the documents say.
Summary Of CIA Astral Projection Research
The US Army and the CIA were extremely invested in these documents from the early 1970s to the mid 1980s.
In these CIA documents, Wayne (a CIA operative) researched Astral Projection, Gateway Experience and the patented “Hemi-Sync” technology by The Monroe Institute. Wayne actually went to The Monroe Institute in Virginia where he completed the 7 day psychic program at the institute. Wayne’s experiences served as a basis for the 29-page long CIA reserach which goes over everything from the idea of consciousness, quantum particles and space-time to energy, Astral Projection, hologram / simulation theory and more.
According to the document, the normal state of consciousness is like a chaotic flickering light. A hypnotized concsious state, however, is like a laser whose energy is focused.
Wayne says:
"Intuitional insights of not only personal but of a practical and professional nature would seem to be within bounds of reasonable expectations"
This means that according to this document and Lieutenant Wayne’s conclusion, hypnosis and Astral Projection are worth the CIA’s and Army’s attention.
35 Army officers went to The Monroe Institute with Wayne in order to research The Gateway Technique. These 35 officers were carefully selected out of 251 candidates. The selected officers were smart, open-minded, and displayed no unreasonable enthusiasm or leaning towards psychoenergetics. Their goal was to learn how to Astral Project and to enter the Astral Plane.
Based on the CIA’s and Army’s conclusion that Astral Projection is something that should be researched and is not just a form of dreaming, we could probably safely assume that this research was a success.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Astral Projection is something that was getting a lot of government attention back in the 70s and 80s. Both the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), the Army and the Soviets were putting a lot of resources into Astral Projection research.
In my opinion, Astral Projection is still being researched by American and foreign governments. Sadly we won’t know about that until it gets released to the public which can take 30 years. And even then, some pages might mysteriously go missing.
This page will be frequently updated with new documents so make sure to bookmark it, keep an eye on it and share it with your friends.
