What is the best method to easily Astral Project? This is one of the most common questions that I get. The answer isn’t straightforward because a method that works for me might not be the best for you.

We will go over some easy, beginner friendly, step by step Astral Projection methods so that you can find one that works best for you. By the end of this guide, you will find a technique that suits you and you’ll be able to use it to successfully Astral Project.

How To Astral Project

A lot of people have Astral Projected before but they don’t know it. So before we go over the methods, let’s explain how to know if you have Astral Projected.

Let’s dive right in!

How to Know if You Astral Projected

Once you successfully Astral Project you will know that you’ve projected. An Out of Body Experience (OBE) feels a lot different than a dream and it feels as real as physical reality. Sometimes it can even feel more real than reality.

For beginners, there are a few ways to check if you’re in a Lucid Dream or in the astral plane.

The main way to tell if you Astral Projected is that you will be coming out of your body and you will literally be able to see your body next to you.

Astral Projection leaving body

In a dream, you usually don’t have a body and you can’t really focus on things too much. In an Astral Projection you have all of your senses and you always have a body.

Another way to tell that you have Astral Projected is that you will be able to read text. In a dream it often turns into gibberish.

The last way to tell is the most unique. Find somebody else (an animal or a person) and shake their head. In a dream they wouldn’t react to you shaking their head because it’s just in your mind. In the Astral however, that’s a real entity and it will always react to you.

How To Astral Project - 3 Easy Methods

There are a lot of different techniques to Astral Project. In this guide, we will go over the three easiest methods:

  • The WBTB Method
  • The Forearm Technique
  • Natural Astral Projection

The WBTB Method

WBTB ( Wake up and go Back To Bed) is probably one of the easiest and most effective methods for beginners.

As the name suggests, the point of this method is to wake up in the middle of the night and go back to bed.

Let’s go over the steps:

1. Set an Alarm

Set an alarm on your phone to go off 4 hours into your sleep. We are doing this because we want to wake up our body in the middle of our deep sleep. This way, the body will be able to quickly fall back to sleep while our mind will be awake.

Setting an alarm clock

2. Wake Up

When the alarm clock that we’ve set in step 1 goes off, get up and keep yourself busy for a few minutes so your mind can wake up.

Waking up in the night

You shouldn’t go on your phone at this time. Blue light that your phone gives off could wake you up too much and your body could have a harder time falling back to sleep on step 3.

3. Go Back To Sleep

Come back to bed and go to sleep with your eyes closed but don’t let your mind go to sleep. For beginners, going to sleep on your back with hands next to your body is the best. This is because we will try to get to the sleep paralysis stage and lying on your back is the most comfortable when you’re paralyzed.

Falling asleep on your back

You should be still and let your body fall asleep while your mind stays awake. It’s important to note that you should have a clear mind. It helps if you try to focus on your “third eye” area.

At this point, you should be feeling vibrations, don’t freak out because you will wake your body up if you do.

You are now in the vibrational stage of Astral Projection.

Vibrations are a normal part of the process and they are a sign that you are on the right path. Let yourself go to the vibrations and don’t be scared of them.

Once you do that your body will be asleep (paralyzed) and your mind will be awake. A lot of people fail at this point because they get scared. Remember, you have nothing to be afraid of here.

At the end of this step, your body will be paralyzed as if it’s asleep but you will still be awake

4. Visualize Your Arms

Visualize your arms slowly rising and moving out of the body. These are your Astral hands.

Remember, you have your eyes closed during the whole process and you shouldn’t move your physical body. Your body should be asleep and your mind should be awake.

5. Get Out of Your Body

By this point you should be able to reach the vibrational stage and you should also be able to move your astral hand out of your physical body.

Push your astral body out of your physical body by using your astral hands and stand up next to the bed. If you can’t do that, roll your astral body out of your physical body.

Astral Projection method of leaving the body

Congratulations, you have successfully Astral Projected. At this point you should see your physical body lying on the bed.

Don’t get too excited, you might snap back into your physical self and wake your body up. A good idea for beginners is to get away from your physical body as fast as possible so that they don’t snap back and wake their body up.

The Forearm Technique

The Forearm Technique might be a good choice for you if you’re having trouble staying awake with the WBTB method. This was actually my biggest problem when I was learning how to Astral Project. With the Forearm Technique, I was then able to project for the first time.

This method is almost identical to the WBTB method with just one slight difference:

Instead of going back to bed with your arms next to your body, put your elbow on the bed with the hand going up. This way, your forearm will be vertical. If you happen to fall asleep, your arm will fall and wake you back up so that you can try again.

Once you are sure that you are awake, slowly put your arms back on the bed and continue as you wwould with the WBTB method.

Natural Astral Projection

Every person wakes up for a minute or so at the end of each sleep cycle. During our sleep, we go over sleep cycles which last around 90 minutes.

In other words, when we go to bed, we naturally wake up every 90 minutes. So during an 8 hour sleep, we wake up around 5 times. These are our chances to Astral Project. Every night, we naturally have around 5 chanes to Astral Project.

Natural Astral Projection

Here are the steps to naturally Astral Project:

  1. Surround yourself with AP topics and go to bed with the intention to Astral Project – This way you will put AP into your subconcious
  2. When you naturally wake up during your sleep, lie still but make sure that you don’t fall asleep
  3. Let yourself go to any vibrations or feelings that you might sense
  4. Your body is paralyzed as if it’s asleep but your mind is still awake
  5. Imagine grabbing a rope that’s coming from the ceeling and pull yourself up
  6. Congratulations, you are out of your body

Three Astral Projection Rules

Regardless of which AP method you choose to practice, all of them have three things in common.

You have to stick to these three rules in order to be successfully Astral Project:

Fear

Fear is without a doubt the #1 obstacle for people that are trying to learn how to Astral Project. A lot of beginners are very afraid and I don’t blame them. There is a lot of fear mongering online regarding AP.

From people saying that you can get hurt or possesed to even some saying that you can get permanently stuck in the Astral Plane.

These are all lies. You can’t get hurt, possesed or stuck. AP is very beautiful and it can help you get to know yourself more, it’s not something that you should be afraid of. Fear can only hold you back when it comes to Astral Projection.

Let the fear go and you will be well on your way to project for the first time.

Excitement and Overthinking

Some beginners get super excited when they get to the vibrational stage because they are so close to projecting. This excitement usually wakes up the body and the AP attempt is over.

Don’t get overly excited when you are attempting to project.

If your mind is racing you will not only have a hard time projecting but you will also have a very hard time staying in the Astral Plane.

It’s crucial that you don’t overthink things when you are projecting. Don’t hold onto thought, let them go.

Practice

There are very few of those who can Astral Project in the first few attempts. On average, it takes an average person between one and six months to learn how to Astral Project and do it for the first time. That’s between 30 and 180 attempts for most people to AP for the first time.

Don’t quit, keep practicing. If you give up, you will never project but if you keep trying, you will get there eventually. Give a method at least two menthods before you switch to another method.

Final Thoughts

To summarize, there are a ton of different Astral Projection methods but a lot of them can be hard for beginners. We recommend the WBTB method to those of you that are just starting out with AP.

The WBTB method is one of the most known and effective Astral Projection techniques and it’s the one that I recommend to beginners.

If the WBTB method isn’t working for you than The Forearm Technique or Natural Astral Projection might be for you.
